An artist from the Ozark's approached me to improve their website and implement Google AdSense, this was her portfolio and also a source of passive income.
Despite having a strong presence in her local art scene and consistent traffic, the site struggled with slow load times, poor structure, and their Google AdSense was a mess.
Before working together, the artist had already attempted to fix it and tried to reach out to other professionals to fix their website and Google AdSense setup, but the issues were never fully addressed.
Before we began working together, they were frustrated and worried that their Google AdSense might be pulled away if it doesn't get fixed.
My Approach
I began a full website audit to identify performance and usability issues, these included:
Improving page load speed through image optimization and caching
Ensuring mobile responsiveness across all pages
Cleaning up unnecessary plugins and scripts
These fixes made the website faster, cleaner, and more on brand.
Improving Website Structure & User Experience
Next, I organized the website to create a smoother experience for visitors:
Simplified navigation
Added missing links
Grouped content logically (portfolio, contact, shop)
This insured visitors stayed longer on the site, an important factor for both SEO and AdSense performance.
Now for the main course, Google AdSense!
Unlike most websites, Shopify was a bit technical - yes, setting up WordPress was a breeze!
At the time, most available guides for implementing ads.txt on Shopify were outdated, I carefully followed the best practices that were available while also testing and validating the setup through hands-on testing and platform checks.
By focusing on the root issues rather than the surface-level issues, I was able to complete the project in half the client's originally allotted timeframe
